Rules.

Game duration & Score limit

15-second shot Clock per possession

Playing time is a maximum of 20 minutes, straight time

60-second break at the 10-minute mark

Score limit: 21 points. Applies to regular playing time only

Overtime

 

The first team to score two (2) points wins the game

 

Free throw(s) following a shooting foul

 

1 free throw
2 free throws, if a foul is committed behind the arc

 

Foul limit per team

 

6 team fouls

 

Penalty for team fouls

 

7, 8 and 9 get 2 free throws

 

Penalty for team fouls 10 or more

 

2 free throws + ball possession

 

Possession following a successful goal

 

Defensive possession right underneath the hoop
The ball is to be dribbled or passed to a player behind the arc
Defensive team not allowed to play for the ball inside the "no-charge semi-circle" area underneath the basket

 

Substitutions

 

In dead-ball situations only, before the check ball (NO SUBS ON THE FLY)

 

The substitute can enter the game after their teammate steps off the court and establishes physical contact with them behind the end line opposite the basket.

 

Substitutions require no action from the referees or table officials

Court and Ball

 

A regular 3x3 court playing surface

A size 7 ball or a size 6 FIBA 3X3 Ball shall be used in all categories. Teams will agree on which ball to use prior to the start of the game. 
 

Team roster

 

5 players (3 + 2 substitute)

Each team will be required to have a player/parent/supporter at the score table to either time-keep or scorekeep


Note: the game must start with 3 (three) players in FIBA 3x3 Official Competitions

 Only players who participated on the first day of the tournament are eligible to play in the playoffs. If an ineligible player plays, the team will be disqualified and forfeit the game

 

Referee

1 per game

 

Time/Score keeper(s)

 

Up to 2 (1 FROM EACH TEAM)

Time-outs

 

1 per team, 30 seconds

​Game time is paused during a timeout.

Initial possession

 

Coin Flip / Rock-Paper-Scissors (best of 1)

 

The team that wins the Coin Flip/R-P-S

decides whether to take the ball or leave it

 

Scoring

 

1 point and 2 points, if scored behind the arc
